Architecture firm hails next phase of historic development | Housing news in Wales

Rio Architects has provided further details on the next phase of Rightacres’ ongoing redevelopment of the former Brains Brewery site at Central Quay.

Situated along the River Taff in Cardiff city centre, the development regenerates the former site of Brains Brewery, providing apartments to build whilst protecting and conserving the brewery, its iconic chimney and its inherited cultural heritage.

Having obtained planning approval in June this year, the proposals demonstrate Rio’s approach to developing the designs in line with the developer’s vision and retaining these distinctive landmarks as the focal point of the city. .

The residential towers and their commercial base will reference the colors and textures of the brewery materials and complement the historic building.

Chris Taylor, Senior Partner at Rio Architects, said: “I am delighted that planning approval has been granted for this exciting and transformational development in the heart of my home town.

“The provision of these new buildings and the homes they will create is the next important step in creating a new waterfront neighborhood at Central Quay.

“The development is supported by the creation of high quality public spaces based on strong principles of people-centred urban design. I look forward to our continued involvement in Central Quay’s wider master plan and look forward to look at the progress of development.”
