Faculty of Architecture (Harding University) – The Christian Chronicle

Harding University is seeking candidates for a professorship in architecture. Review of applications will begin immediately. Faculty must be available no later than July 1, 2023 to begin teaching in August 2023. All applicants must be active members of the Church of Christ and committed to Christian education.

The initial application must include a letter of interest and a curriculum vitae. To complete the application, three spiritual references, three higher education references, and official transcripts for all degrees earned are required. Salary and rank will be determined based on credentials and experience.

The Harding Architecture program is designed to culminate in both a Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies and a Master of Architecture with broad liberal arts exposure. The faculty will support and participate in the program’s accreditation with the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB).

Successful candidates for this position should have a terminal degree in architecture and a background in architectural education. The Faculty of Architecture will support the Program Director, Department Head and Dean to develop the Accelerated Bachelor’s (BA-AS) and Master’s (MARCH) curriculum. The preferred candidate should have experience in curriculum development, knowledge of NAAB 2020 accreditation requirements, and a willingness to foster collaboration among educational programs in related disciplines. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to Christian higher education and a desire to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate educational mission of Harding University.

ROLES OF THE FACULTY OF ARCHITECTURE

  • Teach assigned classes, labs and studios
  • Assist in the ongoing development of the curriculum through the Harding Academic Curriculum process
  • Assist with program application and pursuit of full accreditation with NAAB
  • Participate in program recruitment and marketing activities
  • Find and hire other qualified teachers
  • Participate in strategic planning and effective evaluation of program objectives
  • Execute program plans for course scheduling, student advising, and retention
  • Facilitate and oversee the development of various curricular/extracurricular activities
  • Help establish and manage relationships with the profession and the community

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION

  • Terminal diploma in architecture (master’s degree in architecture, equivalent higher professional degree in

architecture) or a doctorate/Ph.D. in Architecture

  • Academic experience in higher education with a NAAB accredited program

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

  • Professional practice experience
  • Professional license in the United States or international equivalent
  • Evidence of community, professional and academic partnership experiences
  • Experience in academic administration
  • Professional leadership experience
  • Experience with the NAAB accreditation process
