According to Song, technological innovation is needed at three levels to help customers achieve their green development goals. At the site and equipment level, more integrated designs and new materials should be used to move sites entirely outdoors and increase the energy efficiency of equipment and the efficiency of renewable energy use.
In cross-site coordination and networking, simplified network architecture and improved transmission efficiency are needed to maximize energy efficiency and make networks all-optical, simplified and intelligent.
In order to achieve green O&M, new O&M and energy saving policies should be more easily developed and implemented, and energy efficiency indicators and benchmarks should be made more visible, manageable and optimizable. .
Concluding his speech, Song also announced the opening of the Evergreen Land Engagement Room, where Huawei will meet with global operators to discuss green development and ways to build the most energy-efficient ICT infrastructure in depth. He reiterated, “Huawei is committed to working with operators to improve the energy efficiency of ICT infrastructure and create value by using green ICT technologies.”
At the event, Song launched Huawei’s green development solution with innovations at these three levels, as well as the new NCIe indicator system that supports this three-layer solution of green site, green network and green operation.

At the site level, the solution uses innovative materials, the industry-leading blade power module supports 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G within a single site. The leading One Blade One Site solution delivers 97% site energy efficiency (SEE). Highly integrated ultra-wideband RF modules and multi-band antennas are able to achieve zero loss with zero wiring inside the multi-band antennas, thus increasing the equipment’s telecommunications energy efficiency (TEE). In addition, Huawei’s AI-based PV storage and iPV shading have maximized the efficiency of using renewable energy.
At the network layer, the solution improves energy efficiency by approximately 10 times by upgrading the entire network from electrical switching to optical switching, while replacing copper with fiber further improves the energy efficiency of about five times. Huawei’s equipment realizes one sub-rack per site and greatly increases network energy efficiency (NEE) and supports fiber capacity of nearly 100 Tbit per second, which means that one million users can simultaneously watch online movies on a single hair-thin fiber.
At the operational layer, the solution migrates users from 2G and 3G to 4G and 5G which use more power-efficient RATs, and implements real-time traffic monitoring and analysis, and adjusts the frequency of forwarding processors or closes ports based on changes in traffic volume. , and ensures that the indicators are visible, manageable and optimizable.
