Linden BOE hears update on construction of GP Austin Middle School – Reuters

The April 25 Linden Board of Education meeting was brief and lasted just under fifteen minutes.

Dr. Thurman said he received a schedule from the architect in charge of construction at GP Austin Middle School. Thurman said construction will be complete before the end of summer vacation in May. The only thing that won’t be finished by the end of May is the air conditioning and heating units.

Thurman said he plans to put the multipurpose hall project on hold until bid prices come down. He said the first offer they had on the project was around $350,000 to $400,000 four years ago. He said they were still struggling to keep the numbers below $1 million and the budget couldn’t accommodate current bid prices.

Under New Business, board member Donte Dukes reported that a water leak had been discovered at the country house. A pipe under a sink burst and spilled water at one end of the building. Dukes suggested closing off one end of the building until the leak could be investigated and repaired.
