Newton-Conover High School Renovation, Construction Estimated at $54 Million | Education

It is estimated that the renovations and construction of Newton-Conover High School will cost over $54 million.

The project is still in the planning stage and does not have an expected start date. Superintendent Aron Gabriel said architects from Little Diversified Architectural Consulting Group will discuss the revisions with the school board during a working session Sept. 6 at 4:30 p.m.

In May, the district received a $22 million grant from the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. The district previously received $20 million for the project from state and local governments.

The original 2020 project plan was to replace the two-storey main building where the majority of the school’s classes take place. The main building was built in 1964. The board then asked for more money to meet other school needs, Newton-Conover City Schools Human Resources Director John Robinson.
