Plans submitted for 41 social rental units in Dalmarnock

Thenue Housing Association has applied for planning permission for 41 social housing units in Dalmarnock.

Plans designed by Mast Architects will see 19 apartments and 22 townhouses delivered on land between Connal Street and Springfield Road.

A mix of two, three, four and five bedroom properties will be provided pending approval.

A design statement included with the application explains: “The development proposes to reinvigorate a neglected brownfield site…and positively impact the wider Dalmarnock regeneration area.

“The design seeks to reference the existing environment, including the newly constructed Athletes’ Village, and in view of the future Phase 2 of this development, opposite the site, in the shape, mass and materiality of these proposals.”

Mast Architects added: “The proposed design has been developed within a wider context, to refer both to planned future developments, but also to high landmarks surrounding the development site, such as the development at several floors of Dalmarnock Road and the flat blocks flanking the Cuningar Loop footbridge.

A Thenue spokesperson told our sister publication Scottish Housing News: “As part of our ongoing plans to identify locations for our new home construction program, we have submitted an application for planning permission. If planning permission is given, we propose to develop 22 houses and 19 apartments with a view to being in place later this year.
