Rockingham Youth Center Featured in Major Architecture Awards

The Rockingham Youth Center added another accolade to its name, with the facility being recognized at the 2022 WA Architecture Awards.

The awards ceremony, hosted by the Australian Institute of Architects on June 9, recognizes architectural excellence and innovative work by members of the Institute.

SITE Architecture Studio was the project architect for the youth center and won the EmAGN project award for their work on the installation.

The award aims to recognize and encourage emerging architects to continue to produce exceptional work.

Rockingham City Mayor Deb Hamblin said the RYC is a facility that promotes diversity and inclusion through SITE.

“SITE Architecture Studio played a key role in this collaborative process, helping to design the RYC in a way that aligned with the vision of the RYRG and the city,” she said.

“The end result is an inspired community facility that has instilled pride in RYC members, which will serve the youth of our community with a variety of meaningful programs and activities for many years to come.”

RYC’s most recent award follows the facility winning Community Facility of the Year at the 2022 Parks and Leisure Australia WA Awards of Excellence.

The RYC on MacKinnon Street in Rockingham is open to young people aged 12-24 and offers them the opportunity to participate in programs and initiatives in a safe environment.
