The World Architecture Festival (WAF) has just unveiled the annual list of new projects for this year’s return to in-person competition.

In competition under the theme of Together, the total 420 projects will compete for the festival’s 43 category awards judged live and the culminating awards of World Building, Future Project, Interior and Landscape of the Year at the three-day event, which will begin in Lisbon on November 30. A new International Building Beauty Award has also been added for the 2022 cycle.

This year’s expanded shortlist includes projects from Foster + Partners, Zaha Hadid Architects, MVRDV and a host of other major international firms, in addition to a number of lesser-known smaller projects from countries including Portugal, Thailand, Finland and Malaysia. .

WAF program director Paul Finch said: “The number and quality of entries this year has been very encouraging, and we look forward to meeting in person to judge the categories,” referring to the live interruption. two years of the festival due to COVID-19.
