Ware Malcomb Adds Architectural Leader to DC Office – Business Observer

Ware Malcomban international design firm, called upon Rei Takata as the new Studio Director for Architecture in the Washington, DC office.

In his new role, Takata is responsible for helping run the architecture studio and managing various projects. He noted that he looks forward to joining a 50-year-old company that has an entrepreneurial culture and helping the two-year-old DC office continue to grow and thrive.

“Getting from a small company to working with over 850 people, seeing how the company has grown and continues to grow is very exciting,” Takata told Commercial Observer. “With DC being a new office for Ware Malcomb, the challenge of growing in a fairly saturated DC market is really appealing. We are able to provide a local and boutique level of service here that is backed by the powerful resources of a 26-office company.

A licensed architect in the State of Maryland, Takata has more than two decades of experience in multi-family projects, adaptive reuse and higher education, as well as leading multi-million dollar projects from schematic design to construction. building administration.

“We are delighted to welcome [Takata] to our team. His vast experience with important DC projects makes him a wonderful addition to this team,” mike christensen, regional manager of Ware Malcomb, said in a prepared statement. “We look forward to his contributions and leadership.”

One of Takata’s initial goals is to help diversify and expand Ware Malcomb’s portfolio using his extensive multi-family experience. For example, the firm’s architecture studio is working on the transformation of a vacant 1970s building Sheraton hotel into a 24-story, 500-unit multi-family property.

“We are raising it into a modern multi-family residence and the conversion is a fun and challenging project,” he said. “Our team works on a combination of industrial, multi-family, workplace, science and technology projects, among many others. It’s exciting to see the various projects the entire company is working on across North and South America.
